Inland Truck Parts Co Donates Transmission for AmCoach

Bob Hataway (left) accepts rebuilt Allison transmission

from Geoff Garafola (right), General Manager, Inland Truck Parts Co in Irving, TX.

Recent problems with the transmission on the AmCoach presented a dilemma for Bob Hataway, President & Founder, TransAlive USA, the operator and administrator for the AmCoach program for the transportation industry.

At first what was thought to be loose u-joints evolved into transmission failure.  Since new transmissions for the 1984 Eagle are no longer available, Bob was referred to local dealers who rebuilt existing transmissions.

Bob thought "Oh no!  Smaller companies can not handle large donations like national companies."  Even knowing the probable outcome of the request, he pressed ahead anyway.

Talking with Geoff Garafola, General Manager, and Doug Tyler, Allison Technical Manager, for the Irving, TX division of Inland Truck Parts Co, Bob found a friend of the industry who cares about the welfare of drivers nationwide.  After a short presentation, Geoff said, "We will fix you up!"

Bob was elated!  With the economy as it is, it’s so common to hear "Sorry ...”.  To meet folks like Geoff and Doug with Inland Truck Parts Co is a breath of fresh air.

The AmCoach is an Eagle coach converted to accommodate drivers and their families as the drivers are released from hospitals.  Quite often those drivers have special needs.  The AmCoach is prepared to provide comfort under extreme circumstances.

"Just to be discharged does not always mean one is ready to travel in a standard plane, train or bus," declared Bob.

TransAlive does not charge drivers or their families for the transportation service.  AmCoach depends on contributions from transportation industry fleets, manufacturers, and suppliers.  We extend our sincere appreciation to Inland Truck Parts Co for the donation of the transmission.
