TRANSALIVE BEGINS THIRTY THREE YEARS OF SERVICE

 

 

Ft Worth, TX.  In 1975, Bob Hataway heard on the CB radio about an accident on I-35. He went to the accident scene; however, fire, police, and emergency crews had sent the driver to the local hospital. Bob went to the hospital to give the driver assistance and support.

 

Joseph Traylor underwent three major surgeries over 8 weeks. Bob and his wife, Carol, helped Joe and his wife cope with the injuries, deal with the trauma of hospital life, and give perspective to a new life with a new career. When Joe was well enough for travel, he was air transported to Indianapolis, IN, his hometown.

 

 

Bob was moved by what had been done for Joe Traylor. There had been many people who got involved with Joe while he was in Hillsboro, TX.

 

Bob began to visualize the needs of drivers like Joe Traylor who needed help across the country.  He was not some super hero for Joe Traylor, but he knew that people have an innate desire to help their fellow man when he/she has problems.

 

In many cases the only reason people do not help is that they are not aware of the problem in the first place. Setting up a plan of getting notification in the hands of the right people became Bob's goal.

 

The plan was simple, the process was difficult. A driver would have a need and there would not be any volunteers immediately available. And visa versa, many volunteers became disenchanted with nothing to do in their area.

DONATIONS/MEMBERSHIPS 

 

Donations/memberships are now accepted on line through PayPal.  You do not have to have an account with Paypal to make a donation.

 

Donations are accepted from those who wish to help us help drivers and their families across the country.

Memberships are required for drivers who want to prepare themselves in the event they should ever need the services of the AmCoach.  Membership is required for service with the AmCoach. 

Go to http://www.transalive.com and click on the "Donation" button and it will take you to a special page that you can follow directions and make a donation directly to TransAlive or sign up as a member.

 

However, people began to understand and understanding companies allowed Bob to fail. But with every passing day, the organization took on an even more solid foundation as needs started being met and drivers and their families were being helped across America.

 

J B Hunt Transport, Inc joined with him in 1987 to help him firmly establish his plan in place within the industry.  He put his plan into action with them and took himself completely off the market for 6 months.  He worked only their cases.  Bob wanted to prove to J B Hunt Transport, Inc and to himself that what he said he could do, he could do.

 

At the end of the period, he confidently began to market his plan to others and the start of a nationwide program was set in motion. Today, over 100,000 volunteers covering all zip codes across America are ready to help drivers. Over 130 companies with over 250,000 drivers use his services.

Starting in 2008, we will begin our thirty third (33) year of service to the industry.  Over the years, we have worked approximately 10,000 cases involving carriers, drivers and their families across America.

 

Bob states, "There have been drivers 2,000 miles from home that had no way of getting back home and we were able through the AmCoach program to assist them and get them back home.”

 

Charlene Worcester, wife of Charlie Worcester who had surgery in Salt Lake City, UT said, "Charles had not been with the company long enough to be covered by insurance and the VA hospital could not transport him home.  The AmCoach could not have been more comfortable for Charles.”

 

As Bob states "It has been a great challenge, but as I look back on it, it has been a delight to work with some of the greatest people in the world.  Carriers who care about their drivers; people who care about our drivers who make our economy function; come together to make TransAlive.”
