Sunday Safety Tip for Drivers
Shoes can be the beginning of safety for the professional driver
FRIVOLOUS TO FRACTURE

When was the last time you were thoroughly embarrassed? A driver from Ft Worth, TX pulled on the yard in Baltimore, MD. He had unloaded, fueled and needed to sign in before getting something to eat.

As he sat in his tractor bringing his log book up to date, he looked across the yard and the most beautiful girl he had ever seen came walking toward him. Thinking that he must get her attention somehow, he decided to inquire about his log status since surely she must work in the office.

At that moment, however, she turned and started toward the maintenance shop. He was completely taken by her and just had to meet her. He closed his log book, opened the door and sailed out without even realizing he had missed the steps on the tractor.

He hit the ground full force, but since the sun had caused the asphalt to buckle, it wasn't as forgiving as his maneuver. With his foot uneven, the ankle could not withstand the pressure. As it gave way, he felt the bone crack.

He jumped up not wanting her to see him on the ground, but as soon as he put weight to the foot, it gave way and back to the ground he went. This time, he was crying with pain. To make matters worse, another truck driver got to him first and called for the girl to go get help. She never even got close enough to see who he was.

Embarrassed, yes! Smart ... No!

   1.    Cupid does come calling, but Cupid is not stupid. How we react to the calling is what makes Cupid seem stupid.

   2.    Had he allowed his brain to engage, he probably would have met her. But does the brain ever engage when the libido is energized?

   3.    Mother Nature has a way of taking her course. At least he would have been on course and not on crutches.

Bottom line: Frivolous concerns can lead to compound fractures.
