10th
Annual National Day of Prayer for Truckers
The
10th Annual National Day of Prayer for Truckers will be conducted March 19,
2009 in the South Wing of the Exposition Center in Louisville, KY at
9:00AM. The program will be presented in conjunction with the 38th Annual
Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville.
Bob Hataway, President and founder of TransAlive USA, will be the keynote
speaker. Hataway founded TransAlive USA 34 years ago and has been active
in working with the truckers and their families across America.
TransAlive initiated the AmCoach program in 2000 and has been instrumental in
getting drivers home when they can not travel sitting up. Hataway
is a Chaplain with the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist
Convention.
As an author, Hataway has written two books, the first entitled "The
Memo" reflects the issues of public trust in our society and "After That ..." detailing the involvement of TransAlive with
the truckers of 9-11 working rescue and recovery. The latter book is
available on the internet at http://www.afterthat.net as a resource for those
experiencing unexpected death.
Bob Hataway has researched, and scripted Safety Tips for Drivers for over 20
years with Truckers Connection and featured on WBAP Radio. The Safety
Tips are presented on the internet by Layover.com, Target Media, and various
trucking companies in their newsletters. Distribution on a monthly basis
exceeds over 1 million copies.
Joe Hunter, President of TruckStop Ministries, will
voice the prayer for truckers at exactly 9:00AM. We invite everyone to
join with us at 9:00AM, your local time, to pray for our truckers and their
families across America. Prayers offered at local times will ensure
prayers being offered throughout the morning.
Jerry and Sharon Benson will present special music. They are known for their
musical talent and their willingness to give of themselves to promote the
transportation industry. Sharon has won the Favorite Female Vocalist of
the Year Award for several years in gospel music. Jerry is involved with
trucking as a driver and an owner.
Hataway exclaimed, "We are happy to be presenting the 10th annual prayer
meeting and feel that we have reached a mile marker with the
program." Ten years ago, Bob Hataway, Joe Hunter, and Gary Nussbaum
met at the Mid America Trucking Show and planned the National Day of Prayer for
Truckers. "With 21st century technology, this year we are exploring
making the program available by video on the internet," Hataway
introduced.
Hataway concluded, "As this is the 10th anniversary, we are asking
carriers, trucking companies, owner operators, vendors, truckstops,
receivers, and shippers to set aside a moment of silence at 9:00AM on March 19,
2009 for prayer for the American trucker."
The National Day of Prayer for Truckers is sponsored by TransAlive USA, Truckstop Ministries, Transport for Christ, and Tim Young,
CEO Mid-America Trucking Show/EMA in Louisville, KY.
