Immediate Release
Contact:  Bob Hataway (817) 320-0567

The Ninth Annual National Day of Prayer for Truckers was observed in conjunction with the Mid America Truck Show in Louisville, KY.  Exhibitors and drivers joined together as prayer was voiced for the truckers of America and their families.  Two drivers, one with less than a year and the other with many years in the transportation industry represented the drivers as Chaplains and Ministers came forward to pray for the truckers and their families.

We especially want to thank Tim Young, CEO Mid-America Trucking Show/EMA for providing the accommodations; and our appreciation to Daniel Dobson, with the Convention Communication Provisioners, Inc -- Kentucky Region, for providing the telephone equipment for the program.

National Day of Prayer for Truckers is sponsored each year by Bob Hataway, President and Founder of TransAlive USA; Joe Hunter, President and Founder of Truckstop Ministries, Inc; and Scott Weidner, President of Transport for Christ International.  Joe Hunter voiced the prayer and Gary Nussbaum with Transport for Christ was the keynote speaker.  Bob Hataway served as the master of ceremonies.

Jerry and Sharon Benson presented the special music.  Jerry and Sharon are known across the country for their musical talent and willingness to promote Christ in the trucking industry.  Sharon is a winner of the Favorite Female Vocalist of the Year Award with the Gospel Music Association.

Plans are already being formed for the 10th Annual National Day of Prayer for Truckers.  The meeting will be a mile marker for the National Day of Prayer for Truckers.  In the year 2000 when we celebrated the first annual meeting, the numbers were low.  However, with the cooperation of the transportation and broadcast media we have seen an incredible reaction and those responding are growing each year.

The 10th Anniversary will be an extravaganza including a full morning breakfast, music by Jerry and Sharon Benson plus local artists including Joe George Jernigan, the Chaplain on the XM Radio Open Road Program with Bill Mack.  Bob Hataway, President and Founder of TransAlive USA, will bring the keynote address, Gary Nussbaum, Regional Director of Wellness for Transport for Christ International, will lead the special prayer, and Joe Hunter, President and founder of TruckStop Ministries, will oversee the program as master of ceremonies.

Plans call for the 10th Anniversary to include a video presentation that can be archived and viewed by those who can not be in attendance.  At their convenience, they will be able to play back the program on the web site NationalDayofPrayerforTruckers.com.  This will be the first occasion for video taping and making the broadcast available on the internet.  Look for more information concerning this as we approach March, 2009.
