Volunteers meeting the needs of truckers

Caring in Action=Safety Program is a group of 100,000 volunteers who have commited themselves to providing the best available care possible when drivers or a member of their families find themselves facing adversity. Accidents can be traumatic in themselves, however, you add the distance away from home and the lack of close family members -- it can become even more traumatic.

Our volunteers have given back that added touch of having someone near who cares. They visit drivers in the hospital making sure that their personal needs are being met. Should wives come to be with their husbands, they will pick them up at the airport or bus station and take them immediately to the hospital. Housing, food, and transportation needs are all addressed and provided as needed while the family is away from home. What ever can be addressed by someone locally as in any hometown is provided by those in the area of the accident or illness that requires hospitalization.

The distinguishing feature of our service for drivers and their families is that it is totally free to the drivers and their companies. We need only to hear that a driver and/or their familiy members are in distress anywhere in the continental United States and we move quickly to remove the uncertainty and replace it with warm caring friends willing to assist whatever the task. Our National Team Safety USA Sponsors make this program possible and I invite you to visit our sponsor pages and to use the email function to send them a note of your appreciation for this service .

Another distinguishing feature of our service is that we are the only ones bold enough to attempt this task across the country. There are plenty of organizations who work regionally, or from a truck stop to help the driver and we are thankful for them. There is so much that needs to be done that it takes all of us working together to accomplish the task. We, however, compliment their services by being available for areas they do not serve.

Lastly, we work by zip code. When given the driver's location by zip code, we immediately dispatch our volunteers to his/her side. And since we also have the driver's hometown zip code, we dispatch our volunteers to his home address to monitor the family and their needs. Having local people with knowledge to help in these two most critical areas assures the driver, the family and the company that they have secured the best available care for their driver.
