The AmCoach -- Serving The Nations Truckers
Injured truck drivers on the road to recovery need help getting home. "The AmCoach provides an alternative to air charter for our members who do not need specialized air charter services, but can not travel in a sitting up position," said Bob Hataway, TransAlive founder. Neither commercial flights nor standard buses will allow the driver to lay down in all cases during transit.
The AmCoach has a special room with an adjustable bed with special accommodations to make drivers comfortable in transit; and sleeping quarters and shower facility for the staff and/or family members accompanying the driver. The motor coach also has a kitchenette, living quarters, lounge area, and large luggage bays.
The AmCoach does require family members travel with the driver and give assistance in transit. Animals are not allowed to travel on the AmCoach due to the necessary cleanliness that is needed with the coach.
The AmCoach works with the company and the hospital in arranging transportation in accordance with the membership program below. Members can have access to the AmCoach by having their company or the hospital case worker call 800-USA-HURT. Owner operator members need only have the hospital case worker to call.
When not under dispatch as a Disaster Relief Command Center or helping to get a driver home -- the AmCoach -- will visit truck stops and truck shows. We will display the equipment and explain the services.
